HOMEMADE "SILLY PUTTY"
Elmer's white glue
Sta-flo liquid starch
Mix well 2 parts Elmer's white glue and 1 part Sta-flo liquid starch. You may have to add a little more starch or glue.
FLOUR CLAY
1/2 cups flour
1 cup salt
1 Tbs. powdered alum
1/2 cups water
Food Coloring
Mix the above ingredients together and then color with food coloring. Keep the material in a moist cloth and it will remain workable for several weeks.
PLAY CLAY
2 cups baking soda
1 cup cornstarch
1 1/2 cups water
Mix dry ingredients; add water; mix until smooth. Boil 1 minute to consistency of moist mashed potatoes. Stir constantly. Spoon onto plate. Cover with a damp cloth and cool. Knead and roll out.
PLAY DOUGH
1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
1 cup water with food coloring
1 Tbs. baby oil
2 tsp. cream of tarter
Cook on medium heat until mixture begins to boil up. Remove from pan and knead 3 to 5 minutes. Store in an airtight, rustproof container.
FINGER PAINTS
Cornstarch
Unflavored gelatin
detergent
Combing 1/2 cup cornstarch with 3/4 cups of cold water. Soak one envelope of unflavored gelatin in 1/4 cups water. Stir 2 cups hot water into cornstarch, mix and cook over medium heat until it boils and is clear, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and blend add desired colors.
CHILDREN'S FACE PAINT
6 tsp. cornstarch
3 tsp. water
3 tsp. cold cream
Food coloring
Muffin tin
In each cup of the muffing tin mix 1 teaspoon cornstarch, 1/2 teaspoon water, 1/2 teaspoon cold cream and a couple drops of food coloring ( a different color in each cup).
GIANT SOAP BUBBLES
1/2 cup Joy or Dawn dish soap
5 cups cold water
2 Tbs. glyceine (found at the drugstore)
Old frying pan
coat hanger
Bend coat hanger into a loop. Mix detergent with 5 cups of water. Add glycerine for durability. Dip coat hanger into solution from pan. Don't throw away the leftovers; the longer it sits, the better it works.
